Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.

An important political figure commented the attack made him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
